Weather plays a significant role in aviation as it dictates the course, safety standards, manufacturing standards, and to an extent, the establishment of laws as well. This makes the study of weather, i. e. Meteorology, an important subject for pilots. Meteorology helps you understand the various aspects of the atmosphere (humidity, density, winds, thunderstorms, etc). This is important for the safe manoeuvring of flight at high altitudes and in arduous climatic conditions. The IMD (India Meteorological Department) provides significant service to the national and international civil aviation sector in fulfilment of the requirements prescribed by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and the Director-General of Civil Aviation of India (DGCA).

In air regulations, you learn everything about the laws, protocols, annexures and regulations set up by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in order to maintain the highest safety standards possible in aviation and to ensure peaceful navigation of aircraft over the globe.
