A Cruel Test On The Stairs

A Bitter Stepmother Tried To Frame The Maid

The upper floor of the mansion was completely silent except for Leo's soft cries.

Victoria stood right near the white railing with a cold smile on her face.

She leaned out further, teasing Sarah with the life of the innocent child.

Sarah: Please, take my life instead, but do not harm the baby!

Victoria: You think your little life matters in this house?

Sarah slowly dropped down onto her knees on the polished marble floor.

She folded her hands tightly together, begging for the infant's life.

Sarah: Think about your husband, ma'am!

Sarah: He will never forgive you if anything happens to his son!

Victoria: He will never know the truth, because I will tell him you did it!

Sarah realized Victoria had planned this awful scenario for a very long time.

Victoria wanted the baby gone so she could control the entire family trust fund.

She also wanted to blame the poor maid so no suspicion fell on her.

Victoria: Let us see how fast your hands really are, maid!

Without another word, Victoria opened her fingers wide and released the child.

The swaddled baby dropped straight down through the wide open space of the foyer.

Sarah did not hesitate for even a single second.

She threw herself down the steep marble stairs, sliding forward with all her strength.

The hard edges of the steps scraped against her knees and arms.

She paid no attention to the sharp pain shooting through her body.

She sprinted across the polished floor just as the child fell into view.

Sarah leaped forward, extending both her arms wide open into the air.

She caught the blanketed baby tightly against her chest just inches from the marble.

They slid together across the smooth floor until coming to a complete stop near the door.

Sarah pulled little Leo close, holding his head against her shoulder.

The baby screamed in fear, but he was completely unhurt.

Sarah cried heavy tears of relief, kissing the top of the infant's head repeatedly.

Sarah: I got you... You are safe now, my sweet little boy...

Up on the balcony, Victoria scowled in total frustration and anger.

She had not expected the maid to move with such incredible speed.

Victoria quickly adjusted her hair and tore a small tear into her expensive red dress.

She began to pinch her own cheeks to make herself look red and panicked.

Suddenly, the massive front doors of the grand mansion slammed wide open.

Julian Vance stepped into the house, holding his briefcase in his right hand.

He had returned early because he had forgotten an important legal file for court.

He stopped dead in his tracks when he heard the chaotic crying echoing everywhere.

Julian: What on earth is happening in my hallway?!

Victoria immediately ran down the curved staircase, faking loud sobbing noises.

Victoria: Oh, darling! Thank God you came back home right now!

She pointed her long finger directly at Sarah, who was still sitting on the floor.

Victoria: The maid tried to drop your baby off the top balcony!
